Having said that, the positives far outweigh the cons - awesome flora and fauna, helpful village folk, colourful eateries, extremely intelligent and genuinely hospitable animal kingdom (dogs, cats, cows, and buffalos) and proximity to the central business district of Panjim are all a strong pull.
The best part is that my residential area is yet spared by the terrorism of toxic tourism, save for the daily deposits of touristy garbage on the access roads to pristine beaches.
It's so heartening to see the local municipality agile and alert at all times - maintaining railway tracks and street lights, paving roads, levelling pathways, and mending the umpteen mini bridges.
